Daddy's Boy

Asher thinks playing with Daddy is the absolute best, especially if Daddy is chasing him as the Tickle Monster!

New Shades

Asher is ready for summer in his new Thomas the Train sunglasses.

This was the scene out the back door as I was making dinner last night - a serious goofball!

He also likes to try out the upside down glasses look once in awhile.
He is very fashion-forward!

Strawberries

We went strawberry picking for Mother's Day!
Asher loved riding in the wagon down the bumpy road to the strawberry field.

The real highlight for him was getting to see a tractor.  He is looking rather dejected here because he'd rather be oogling the tractor than picking berries.

He was so proud of our box of berries!

Eating the berries at last!  Asher may or may not have even eaten a few stems.  It is also debatable whether more strawberry juice got into his mouth or onto his shirt.  Dressing a toddler in white to go strawberry picking was not my wisest decision of the day.

Getting a little tired during our photo shoot by the flowers.

He managed to give me one last "smile" for a picture though.  I wonder if this will be his photo smile for years to come.

Fire Trucks

Asher LOVES fire trucks!!
We went to a parade recently, just because we knew these trucks would be part of the parade.

He'll always make room in his chair for his best buddy, the fire truck.

Here he is demonstrating his piercing fire truck wail.
We'll have to catch that one on a video, so you can really appreciate it.

23 Month Update

23 months old - Who me??

Asher loves to do whatever Daddy and Mommy are doing.

He loves to read, read, read every day.  He reads his favorite Richard Scarry book with Daddy every morning.  He loves going to the library.  Last time we were there, he was so excited to find a book about fire trucks that he repeatedly demonstrated his piercing, loud fire engine wail for all the other library patrons to enjoy.  Luckily, nobody seemed to mind.  I wasn't too concerned because that incident was less embarrassing than when he recently loudly shouted, "poo-poo, poo-poo, poo-poo," several times in a row while we were eating out at a restaurant.

He loves animals, especially alligators and elephants.
He loves his pets too.  Any time I tell him that we're going somewhere, like to the store or the park, he asks if Rambler and the kitties are going with us too.  He can't quite pronounce a beginning "r" sound, so he still calls Rambler " Bubler."

His favorite thing of all is to PLAY!!!
Especially play outside!!
He loves to run really fast!

Our next monthly update will be for Asher's 2nd birthday!

New Shoes

Asher is considering some new shoe styles for his summer look.

First up -  flip flops

Maybe something a little more colorful, like pink flip flops.

Next up, a little sparkle.
He's really hoping the socks with sandals look is going to be in this season.

Maybe something a little more comfy, like running shoes.

Happy Easter

Dyeing Easter eggs was quite the adventure this year.
We laughed.
We cried.
We shrieked.
We splashed.
We turned our bodies green.
In the end, we deemed most of our eggs inedible due to being smashed on the deck, cracked open and licked by the dog, and just generally looking unappetizing.
We had lots of fun & can't wait to do it all again next year.

In case you are interested in replicating this egg dyeing method, our technique involved the following steps.
Toss or throw eggs into cups of dye.
Squeal as you toss each one.
Insert the dipper into the cup and stir very vigorously.
Then stir some more, splashing half of the dye everywhere.
Pull the egg out of the cup with your hand and exclaim, "Egg!"
Throw the egg into a different cup and repeat the process above.
Smash the egg in your hand.
Then smash it on the deck for good measure.
Toss it back into the cup if you can find one that hasn't had all its dye splashed out.
Periodically, look down & notice that you're not wearing a shirt.
Shout "nay nay" (naked) in alarm, make a horrified expression, & ask for your shirt.
Pour any remaining dye into a big bowl and then toss all the eggs in there.
Peel some shell off and try to take a bite out of an egg until your mom stops you.
Repeat until all eggs are thoroughly smashed and your body is dyed green.

Here Asher decided to read the directions for coloring eggs.
He promptly decided to ignore the directions.
