The Spirit of Thanksgiving

Asher has really gotten into the spirit of Thanksgiving and has been pigging out all weekend!
Tonight he ate about two and a half eggs in an omelet.
Even after eating 2 1/2 eggs, he kept asking for more!
There were almost tears when we told him the eggs were all gone.

He moved on to try eating his pineapple.
He loved the flavor, but not the texture, so he decided to lick each piece and then put it back on his plate.

Also, this morning he ate oatmeal until he was about to pop.
This little boy has one hearty appetite!

Thanksgiving

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving!
We enjoyed lots of good food and good company.
Corn casserole followed by Jimmy Carter cake is perfection.
George Harrison joins us for Thanksgiving every year.
I'm not exactly sure why, but we love his presence at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
He forgot to wear his Pilgrim hat this year though.
We spent lots of time poring over the ads and pretending we were going to shopping.  We were perfectly happy to sleep instead though.

Life Lately

Asher has been full of big smiles lately.

He actually has four teeth growing in up top now, but still only the bottom two show when he smiles.

He and Rambler enjoy breakfast together every morning.

They eagerly wait for Chris to come home from work...or for the garbage truck to drive down the street.  When he hears a truck coming, he points to his ear and listens closely.

He loves arranging his toys into the perfect display.  He really puts some time and thought into getting all the toys in just the right place.  I think he may have a future career in interior design.

Reading is his favorite thing to do.
Like mother & father, like son.

Sometimes he'll read one book for a really long time.  Other times, he'll quickly read one page from each book.  This particular day, he kept asking me to bring him more and more books.  He didn't want to get down from the big chair to get them himself.

He never leaves home without a book.  Here he is taking a reading break during a walk at the park.

Wednesday Morning

A Wednesday morning ritual...
watching the recycling truck collect all the neighborhood recycling.
The little toy dog in the window is watching too.
The recycling guys always wave hello as they pass by our house.

Getting in the Holiday Spirit

The Christmas catalogs have started arriving in the mail, and Asher is taking notice!  He has spent a lot of time reading and re-reading them, checking out all the cool toys!

Race Day

Saturday we watched Mom & Col run in the Richmond 8k & Half Marathon.
They ran so fast I couldn't catch them in any photos while they were running!
Here we all are chatting after the race though.
The runners did a great job!!

The fans went wild for Team Sheppard!  Asher was so bummed that he forgot his Team Sheppard hat in the car!
Asher seemed to want to get down and run too.  He has a very fast walk but hasn't quite managed to run yet.  He'll be in a toddler trot race soon enough!
A good picture of Chris!  It does look a little like he's posing for a senior portrait!

17 Month Update

Asher is 17 months plus a handful of days old.
He's learning lots of new things.
A couple of favorites are cleaning up his toys and putting his dirty clothes in the hamper!
He even picks up fuzz balls off the floor and walk them right over to the trash can.
Favorite food - pizza.  He's been known to eat two entire pieces at one meal and still ask for more.
Other favorites are bananas, strawberries, peanutbutter, hummus and of course yogurt.
He's not very interested in meat at all.
Maybe we have a vegetarian here!
First thing he does when he wakes up in the morning - Knocks on the crib railing, smiles, and points to his bookshelf wanting me to get him two books that he can read while I change his diaper and get him dressed.
Favorite toy - puzzles.  Sometimes he likes to put all the pieces together and sometimes he'd rather just hide all the pieces behind his back.
Things that make Asher happy - dancing, brushing the cats, giving the cats treats, letting Rambler lick his hands, putting his shoes on,  airplanes, baths, washing his hands, playing outside, hearing a truck drive down the street, cars with anything on top of them (bike, bike rack, canoe, etc.), getting flipped upside down by dad, going for a run with mom, dad, and Rambler.

The Little Things

Looking at a favorite photo album while drinking juice and cuddling with a bear & pillow can make any day better.

It's nice to share your juice with your bear too!

Halloween 2011

We're a little late with the updates this week, but we did have a great Halloween!  Asher loved dressing up as a little tiger!  We went to the lawn, and he had so much fun seeing all the other kids in their costumes.

He didn't even seem mind that he didn't get any candy.
Maybe next year, little guy!

He took off running all around to get a good look at the other kids.

It's tradition now that Mara joins us for Halloween on the Lawn.
Mark your calendar for next year too, Mara!  We might even score some candy then!

Little ladybug Ellie came by to join us too, but she snoozed through all the festivities.

Her striped tights were the best!

We were all tired out by the end of the evening.

Here's a little flashback to Halloween 2010!
