Feeding the Pets

Asher has a new job around the house - feeding the pets!
He loves it.
And I love it because it means he's no longer yelling about wanting to go outside to play ba-ba-ball (baseball) while I feed the pets.

First he feeds Rambler.  He is the easiest to feed because he waits patiently.
Rambler is not that impressed with dog food anyways.

Then he feeds Cricket.
This is tricky because Asher has to carry the dish to the bedroom where Cricket eats.
Rambler is much more interested in cat food.

Then, the hardest of all, Asher feeds CJ.
CJ tries to gobble up the food before the bowl touches the ground.

Success!!
Asher carries the leftover food back to the cupboard.
We have occasional spills, but Asher is very careful about picking up every last piece of food and putting it into the bowl.  This is agonizing for whichever pet has to wait for his/her bowl to get filled piece by piece.

He's even working on learning how to feed the birds.
I believe Chris is maintaining 7 suet feeders, 2 birdseed feeders, and 1 squirrel feeder right now, so feeding the birds is no small task!  Asher may expect an allowance when he takes over that job!

Asher's Favorite Song

Asher has a new favorite song - "How much is that Doggie in the Window?"
I think this is a step down from his previous favorite, "Baa Baa Black Sheep."

Anyways, he likes "How much is that Doggie in the Window" so much that we sing it right before bed every night.  He likes to join in on the woof woofs.

He feels this song is so far superior to all other songs that if I ever try to sing or even hum any other song, he says, "No!" very sharply and puts his hand over my mouth to stop my singing.  I can't even sing along with the radio without him asking ordering me to stop.  I thought I might be able to get by with other doggie songs, like "Oh Where oh Where has my Little Dog Gone?" but he found that song unacceptable.  I think tomorrow I'll try "Who let the Dogs Out?"

He's also a fan of cats, but I don't think he knows any songs about cats right now.

Bounce, Walk, Run

Our weekend

Went to Bounce & Play for the first and hopefully last time.  Too many germy kids and too many grouchy parents.  We might have contributed to both of those categories, but that's not the point.  Asher's favorite part of that outing was hoarding trucks.  He would gather as many trucks as he could and then glare at anyone who got too close to them.  This scene was quite remniscient of the last birthday party he attended where there was also some truck hoarding and some glaring.

Took a nature walk along the river in a park.  Unfortunately, the only wildlife we spotted was the wailing wild child sitting in our stroller.  No photo of this one, folks, because we had to keep a brisk pace back to the parking lot.  The wailing did almost magically cease the moment the playground was in sight.

Went on a family jog around the neighborhood.  No photo of this one either, so I'll try to paint the scene.  Me jogging along with Rambler who likes to alternate running at top doggie speed and then stopping very suddenly to smell a telephone pole.  Chris pushing the purple jogging stroller with Asher inside waving his foam battle ax at passerbys.  We did receive quite a few stares from cars driving by when we hit the main road.  By the way, thank you to the dollar bin at Target for the foam battle ax - quite the find!  Half way through the jog we stopped at "Vulture Field" a soccer field in our neighborhood where about 100 vultures roost every night.  Creepy yet interesting.  I told Asher to look at the big birds and then realized that he was confused and looking Big Bird.

Boo!

I've been absent from the blog awhile, but I'm popping in tonight to say hi.
Or to say, "Boo!" as Asher would say.
Peek-A-Boo is the favorite game around our house.
Now when I go to get him up in the morning, I usually find Asher with his hands over his eyes, eager for the first peek-a-boo game of the day.
When he wants you to play with him, he says "Mama Boo" or "Dada Boo."
He gets very frustrated that I can't play peek-a-boo while I'm driving.
Here are a few photos of the little guy playing boo.

19 Month Update

Happy New Year!

Asher is 19 months old and is now closer to his 2nd birthday than his 1st!

He's learning lots of new words.  "No" is his current favorite one to say.
At least he says it in a sweet little baby voice for now.

He has a new accomplishment of which he's very proud - eating with a spoon!

After each bite he sets the spoon down and claps and cheers for himself.
He expects everyone else to clap for him after each bite too.

If you don't clap, he points at you and waits for you to start clapping before he proceeds with his next bite.

Here are a few other 19 month stats.
Favorite foods - strawberries, spinach, and pizza
Bedtime - 7:00
Naptime - 12:30-3:30
Favorite Christmas ornament - a school bus with his picture inside
Favorite things - buses, diggers, Tigger, Cookie Monster, trucks, snowmen, Santas (except the scary dancing Santa figurine that we had to hide in the basement)
Current favorite bedtime story - Airplane Ride, a Christmas gift from Aunt Col & Uncle Scott
