Dance Moves

Asher has been practicing his dance moves recently.  Turn on any music, and he comes running over to start dancing.  His signature move is The Spin.  He spins around in a circle over and over again until he gets dizzy and falls over.  He does this repeatedly, just smiling and laughing the whole time.

He's also a big fan of the Moonwalk and likes to slide backwards down the hall.

Update

Asher likes to help with all household chores now - cooking, dusting, vacuuming, washing windows, brushing the pets, putting away laundry, picking up toys, and more.  We're lucky he doesn't know about the concept of getting an allowance.

If anything is out of place, I can count on Asher to let me know immediately.
In fact, if there is any departure from the norm, he notices it and alerts everyone else.
He will keep up the alert until someone puts things back to normal or explains the reason for the change.
For example, this morning, he was alarmed that I was not wearing socks.

His newest chore was to help with was shoveling snow.
The shovel was a big hit!

He had a one-handed technique so as not to have to put down his monster truck.
The monster truck seems to be glued to his hand recently!
Perfect gift from Scott & Colleen.

We've also been trying out a few science experiments lately, like mixing colors.

Stay tuned for a picture of Asher's big boy haircut tomorrow.
Also, he may look a bit bigger since he has been eating cheerios for 40 minutes nonstop every morning recently.

Winter has arrived.

Just when we were about to give up on winter this year,
it finally snowed!

We've been enjoying a steady snowfall since midafternoon and now have about 4 inches on the ground,
and more falling.

Chris built a snowman!

Asher had fun playing in the snow, which he calls "no."

The snowman acquired a bucket hat, and Asher decided to give the snowman a kiss.

If school were in session tomorrow, it would be cancelled for sure.
Now we're left wondering how much snow it takes to cancel a teacher workday.

Here's a typical scene from around our house lately.
Cars & trucks everywhere!

Making Muffins

Asher loves to bake!  Today he and I made muffins.

His favorite part might be getting to stand on the chair!

He also loves seeing the eggs in the bowl, and of course stirring them up too.

Excuse my crazy hair!  I had just finished running 6 miles in the blustery wind.

Asher's least favorite part of the baking process was eating what we'd made!

He wouldn't even try one bite!
Maybe next time we'll try making chocolate chip muffins instead of whole wheat pumpkin muffins!

Eating oranges is much more fun!

Sick Day

CELEBRATING WHIMSY: DADDY EDITION

Asher was home sick today with a chest infection.  Daddy was more than happy to stay with his boy.

Despite being sick Asher was in a great mood this morning!

We read lots of books!  The bear he is holding went to bed with him this afternoon.

Asher and I had fun lining up all the toys we could find!

Asher learned today that even plastic men have a holes in their butts.

Elmo's World and a snack.  Life it good!

A messy nose isn't going to ruin Asher's day!

Asher and I did some decorating for the Super Bowl!

Everything went smoothly today until the mailman rang the door bell to give me a package.  Asher was sleeping soundly at the time.  I may have gotten away with it, but at the last second Rambler decided to bark like a crazy dog at the poor USPS worker.  Asher started to cry at this point.  He may have gone back to sleep, but I accidentally kicked a bone across the room trying to get a handle on Rambler.  The cats chose this moment to meow loudly for their dinner.  At this point Asher was not going back to sleep.  Asher was crying, but calmed down once I picked him up and laid him on the changing table.  He then asked for "Mama."  I told him that she wasn't back yet and he immediately started crying hysterically.  He did calm down quickly, but I ended up holding him most of the next few hours until Mommy came home.

20 Month Update

20 Months Old

Where did the time go?
This is Asher's classic "I don't know" pose.

Asher is a little chatterbox now.  There is non-stop chattering in our house until he goes to bed.  He likes to say our names over and over and over again, likes to name all his other family members and friends, likes to tell us when he sees his favorite things around the house, like balloons, trucks, diggers, books, birds, elmo, and more, and he just generally likes to talk all the time.

He likes to read lots of books before bedtime, go down slides, visit with the neighborhood dogs, get tickled, help around the house, play legos, and to see the mailman.

He likes to be held like a "baby" and cuddled right after a bath.

When you ask him what a frog says, you can see him working really hard to get the correct sound out of his mouth.  It always comes out as "birget" or something like that, but he says it with much enthusiasm and sometimes a little hop.

He does not like blankets (over himself or anyone else), pinecones, wearing hats, trying new foods, or anything being out of its place.
