Gettin' Crafty

Here are the crafts I've been working on this week.

Embroidered Hoop Art

Felt Board

This one was a gift for a 2 year old.  It was upcycled from a diaper box!  I've got another one in the works for Asher as soon as I can trust him not to eat the pieces.

Welcome, Birds!

Chris has been busy with a new project--
building birdhouses

He has had lots of fun using all the power tools, and now we now have these lovely birdhouses just waiting for little bird families to take up residence.  As far as we know, no birds have moved in yet.

The pictures were taken from a distance because I didn't want our neighbors to think I was trying to take pictures through their windows!!

 And his most recent creation...
a squirrel house

No, we do not want squirrels to move into our kitchen!  Hopefully this house will make it to a tree in our yard very soon!

Once the squirrel house is hung up, we will have reached our limit for animal houses in our yard!  Anyone reading this blog who owns a tree might receive some sort of bird/squirrel dwelling  if Chris continues with this hobby!

Whale Appliqued Onesie

When the sun is out and the weather is warm, it's time to head to the downtown mall for lunch outside at Bagby's!  What's even better is if Mom-Mom, Mara, & a friend can join us too!

Asher was sporting his new appliqued onesie I made for him this weekend.  I've got a whole stack of them to applique, so we'll be seeing many more here over the coming weeks.

No pacifier needed for this boy!  He loves to get those two tasty little fingers in his mouth, especially when he's sleepy!

Here's the one in progress that I hope to finish tonight.

Book Page Bird Mobile

Since Asher has kindly been napping in his crib, I had time to work on some weekend projects, like this bird mobile made out of book pages.
Just find a book you never plan to read again.
Cut out simple bird and wing shapes & glue together to assemble.
Punch a small hole in the top of each bird.  String with some embroidery floss.
Tie onto a branch & your birds are ready!

Here's the room view.  It was so sunny that the birds got a little washed out in the picture.  Not complaining about the sunshine though!

Pom Pom Bib Necklace

Okay, so one of my goals is to start doing a little more crafting and creating.  If I'm going to be self employed working in a sunny little studio making things one day, I better get started seeing what I can make!  I'll share my projects with you here.

Here's the pom pom bib necklace I made last night.  I used the tutorial over at Little Miss Momma's blog.   http://littlemissmomma.blogspot.com/2010/12/pom-pom-bib-necklace-tutorial-lmm.html

I really had fun breaking out the old glue gun!  It was super easy, and I think it turned out pretty fab.  So far it has withstood grabby baby hands too.  I didn't have any fabric on hand, but it turned out to be a great way to recycle an old teal shirt that was just taking up space in my closet!
